Argentina Willing to Meet and Sustain Rising Demand for Maize and Soybean Meal in India’s Animal Feed Sector
In light of the increasing demand for maize and soybean meal in India’s animal feed industry, Argentina has emerged as a potential sourcing partner to address this growing need. Mr. Ricky Thaper, Treasurer of the Poultry Federation of India, recently held discussions with Mr. Mariano Beheran, Minister Agricultural Attaché at the Embassy of Argentina in New Delhi, to explore avenues for collaboration in this regard.
During the meeting, Mr. Beheran provided insights into Argentina’s agricultural capabilities, highlighting the country’s annual production of approximately 55 million tonnes of corn and 50 million tonnes of soybeans. He noted that Argentina currently exports around 39 million tonnes of maize to Europe and various Asian countries annually. Additionally, Argentina is a significant exporter of soybean meal, with approximately 20 million tonnes exported each year and is also world’s leading supplier of soybean oil.
Mr. Beheran extended an invitation to Mr. Thaper and other key leaders in India’s poultry industry to visit Argentina and witness firsthand the country’s thriving livestock and agriculture sectors. This collaborative meeting between Mr. Beheran and Mr. Ricky Thaper holds promise for meeting the rising demand for essential commodities in India’s animal feed sector while fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between the two nations in the future.
